Matt McCarthy – Come Clean CD Review
You might know Matt McCarthy from those Verizon Fios ads where he plays the cable guy. Did you also know he was a stand up comic? Imagine that, a comedian whose real fake job is cable guy. Comparisons end here. He’s no Larry. Depending on whether you find that to be good news or bad news will pretty much determine whether this Matt McCarthy CD is for you. Personally, I loved it.
The opening bit is a series of impressions of people doing impressions of people that goes on just long enough to try your patience but ends brilliantly as Francine from Portland goes into her impression of Matt from Rhode Island. From there he discusses his redheadedness which he claims some audience members might have know about already.
Other topics include The Incredible Hulk’s tiny penis, the upside of having a really tiny bathroom, funeral homes that look like Italian restaurants, the worst thing about diarrhea (it’s not what you think), some Bad Ass poetry, and my personal favorite where Matt reads some old suicide notes he wrote back in the day.
It’s all very funny and silly with enough punchlines that give you a kick in the intellect to make it more than just that. There’s even a track where adresses the indecisive iTunes browser who can’t decide whether this CD is for him or not. To them I’d like to quote Matt and say, “Just shut the fuck up and buy it already.” You won’t regret it.
